When I first entered into the lifestyle I had a conception of what it was and how I thought it operated. My saving grace was my willingness to learn, my idea of the lifestyle didn't scratch the scratch on the scratch of the facts, oh how wrong but right can one be?

The concept of Dom/sub is glorified in many fictitious ways, the power of the Dom over the sub a fantasy for many however the reality of the lifestyle is if the power is taken by force it is not a Dom/sub bonding but a tyrant/prisoner(slave) relationship in some circumstances if that is what you are after good luck to you.

Back to my original musing exchange of power, an exchange suggests something of value is given in return for something of equal value, once this happens it is given and is accepted as fair trade. Once the trade is made both parties should have value from the exchange.

So who has the power? This is a question I have often asked myself, it is my role as a Dom to take my sub as I see fit (mmmm or is it), it is, my role as a Dom to take what I desire and part of that role is to ensure my sub has not forfeited the power given to me in a wasteful manner, trust that my journey will take myself and my sub to places I have not yet visited, and know the bond and the exchange of power built on trust I can take my sub with me willingly.
